Three-toed Box Turtle

The three-toed box turtle can be found from Missouri south to Alabama and Texas and are about     4 ½ to 5 inches long with the record being 6 ½ inches.  They can live 30-40 years with a maximum life span of 100 years.  They are diurnal and live in moist woodlands and adjacent damp meadows and flood plains.

They feed on earthworms, slugs, crickets, fruits, sweet potatoes, dark green leafy vegetables, and small mice.
