Guided Tours

guided tour group meets a crocodileIf you want to learn more about the Zoo, a guided tour is perfect for you. A trained member of our education staff will lead you and your group on your own guided tour, focusing on any aspect of the Zoo that interests you.

These tours require a fee in addition to the $3.25 per person admission fee. (Please note that Zoo memberships do not apply to groups requesting group discounts). Fees vary according to the tour selected, and both fees must be paid at the gate.

A confirmation will be mailed or an email message will be sent to you upon receipt of your reservation.Guided tour arrangements must be made two weeks in advance. All special services require a fee in addition to the entrance fee. On the day of your visit, arrive at the Front Gate and pay the group rate of $3.25 for the people attending that day. If your group exceeds the number allowed for the specific tour, we will gladly create an additional group.

Guided Tour Options

60 minute general tour - $50.00 plus $3.25 admission (25 students maximum)
This is a general Zoo tour that will begin at the Front Gate and will provide an overivew of the exhibits including both animal and plant information. You may stay and revisit any of the exhibits after the tour.

60 minute topic tour - $50.00 plus $3.25 admission (25 students maximum)
This tour will focus on a special topic specified by you prior to your visit. This tour may include behind-the-scenes visits. Student participation and advance preparation is encouraged.

30 minute medical tour - $30.00 plus $3.25 admission (10 students maximum)
This close look at the Animal Clinic and quarantine areas will give you a peek into how we keep the Zoo’s collection of animals healthy and happy.

30 minute keeper talk - $30.00 plus $3.25 admission (10 students maximum)
Zookeepers are available between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Each private keeper talk is designed especially for your class. While not a comprehensive tour, we provide an opportunity to visit with the experts of the Zoo at the exhibit noted prior to your visit.

30 minute keeper tours - $30.00 plus $3.25 admission (10 students maximum)
Go behind-the scenes with a Zookeeper. See how animals are managed, where they are fed, and what special skills are needed to care for the. Learn the animals' routines and how the exhibit is managed. Zookeepers are available between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

90 minute topic activities and tour - $90.00 plus $3.25 admission (25 students maximum)
This program focuses around a special topic specified by you in advance. Presentations, hands-on activities, Project Wild games, and crafts are part of this tour. Advance preparation is encouraged. This tour can be adapted for Scout group merit badge work and 4H activities.

120 minute private evening tour - $150.00 for 15 people. Cost for additional people is $15 per person.
We'll open the gates, from 7–9 p.m., for a guided exploration of the Zoo and an animal handling clinic for you and a group of your friends. Celebrate a birthday, special occasion or enjoy an entertaining, educational evening with your family.

Career Shadowing - $35.00 per person plus $3.25 admission
Anyone over 16 who is interested in becoming a Zookeeper or experiencing behind-the-scenes in the animal department can spend an hour with a Zookeeper. During this time, the visitor will participate in keeper activities. Schedules and activities vary. One person may shadow at a time.
